Aaron 7 Months

. . .er. . . 7 1/2 months

Precious with a capital P. Aaron is a constant joy in our crazy lives. Both of our boys are actually, but Aaron can't tell us no yet, so he squeaks by with a win on this one.

At 7 months Aaron has his two bottom teeth, sits without assistance, scoots all over the place, and is getting pretty good at the transition from sitting to scooting. I actually looked over at him tonight and he was on his knees, but he quickly remembered that he doesn't know how to move in that position yet and dropped to his belly. Aaron gets 75% of his puffs in his mouth on the first shot. He eats two solid meals a day and still has 4 bottles - and holds them by himself.

All you have to do to get him to smile is simply look at him. My favorite new skill is waving hi and bye bye. For a hello he holds his arm up and moves his hand in a circular motion from the wrist - like royalty. And for goodbye he jolts his entire arm up and down.

And he's finally sleeping like a champ again as of 2 weeks ago. Must've been the teeth. I'm dreading the next round.

Aaron scoots so fast that you can't leave him unattended for long. He will either come find you or crawl into a corner after a toy and get stuck. He absolutely LOVES Logan and wants to play near him. If Aaron hears Logan's voice in another room he will stretch his neck to look for him. Logan is very good at sharing so far and Aaron is forgiving when he does forget to share.

Thank you for sharing your bright smile every morning thru the slats of your crib, sweet boy. Makes my day!

Asher and AJ come to play

During Labor Day weekend Andrew was in a 3 day golf tournament (don't ask him about it!) and my mom was here to see us and stayed a while since my dad is in Africa.

Jenn brought Asher and AJ to play on Saturday. Now that Asher and Logan are playing together instead of next to each other and the babies are becoming mobile, we are having so much fun watching them all. Lots of moving pieces though. . .

Mellow Mushroom. . .

Not so mellow cousins!

We met Derek, Wendi and girls for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Dinner took a while and the kids were cooped up in a booth for way too long. They were glad to get back to our house and burn some energy. We always love having family over and love that these cousins get to grow up with each other.

Kennedy and Aaron had some bonding time. They'll be in on all the running/squealing action soon enough!

What cuz? Does that hurt?

Special Day

Last Tuesday I poked my head into work for a few minutes and then went back to pick up Logan from school. He had a rough drop off that morning and I felt that he just needed a day of my undivided attention. It turned out to be just what we both needed. I resisted to urge to call friends for a play date and just made it a point to do whatever Logan wanted to do. That involved playing outside of course. It was still over 100 then, but thank heavens it has cooled off since!

I drew a track in chalk around our entire driveway (thanks to my friend Emily who I stole this idea from!). This was the smartest thing I have done in ages. I won HUGE bonus points with Logan who played on it for hours. Tricycle, tractor, push car - we had it all on the track.

I brought him in for a snack for a few minutes and we headed back outside. Logan spotted the pool and decided he wanted to swim. Well, okay!

Then it was time for lunch and nap. We stopped for a cookie at our favorite bakery on our way to pick Aaron up from school. It was a super special day!

Logan update

Logan hasn't gotten out of bed but ONE time since we moved him to his big boy bed. It was during nap time one day the first week and I caught him playing at his train table. I gave him "the look" and he hasn't gotten out since.

AND since he was waking up dry in his pull-ups night after night, I started putting him to bed in underwear just a few nights after the bed switch. And there have been ZERO bed-wetting incidents.

He is such a rule-follower that I hear him on the monitor saying, "mommy, I need to go potty." He will lay there in bed until I come to get him. I'm hesitant to tell him that he can get up to do this himself. Afraid it may become our worst nightmare - another stall tactic.

It all happened so fast - potty training and big bed - I'm a little sad, really. We are so, so proud of our big boy. Aside from the normal 2s stuff (disagreeable on a daily basis), he is an absolute joy to be around - super silly and super smart.

I have a few Logan funnies written down, but I don't have my hands on them right now. One thing that I will never forget - and never let him forget either - is when we were talking about colleges and about where he might want to go (he says the one downtown by his school - Tarrant County College!). Anyhow, he said, "Mommy, you going to come in college with me?" Yes, buddy, Mommy will come with you for sure!!! Sniffle, sniffle.

Here's a picture of Super Frog's biggest fan by the fountain at the Alumni Center at TCU when we went to pick up our parking passes.I don't remember what he's pointing at. Helicopter maybe.

Take me out to the ball game

Last Sunday Andrew and I had my work seats at the Ranger's game. Normally we use these seats for a night out with friends, but we were excited to take Logan to his first baseball game. it was fun to watch him soak it all in. . . until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Yorvit Torrealba hit a home run and the fireworks went off. Remember that July 4th post? Logan doesn't like fireworks. He likes the idea of fireworks and we talk about them often, but in reality they are loud and scary. No matter what I said I couldn't convince him that I knew when the fireworks were coming and would cover his ears. He bounced back a little, but was pretty spooked the rest of the game. We left during the 7th inning stretch. Darn home runs! We had a great time in spite of 'em though.

I tear up just looking at these pictures. I can't believe how big he looks!

Spitting and Scooting

Here are videos of Aaron spitting and scooting. He's stopped spitting on me now, but for a week or so I was wearing an apron to feed him.
