New Stuff!

One of our favorite recent expenditures is this awesome new stroller.

Once we are done using the carrier, there are two "big boy" seats that can face each other, away from each other, both face forward, or face backward. Each seat can fully recline, which will be great for napping. And the storage underneath is plentiful and easily accessible. Now we just have to learn how to go places with 2 kiddos. And then Disney World here we come!

Another fun new purchase we made is an entire new HVAC unit! It's just how we wanted to spend a good chunk of our savings just weeks before the arrival of a new baby.

Last Tuesday I got home from work and noticed how cold the house was. It was 30 degrees outside at the time. I cranked the heat up and left to go volunteer. When I got home it was no warmer in the house. Andrew did some trouble shooting for a while and then we made a few calls to get bids on having it repaired. We knew when we bought the house that our furnace was old. And last winter the heating elements went out and the repairman said he thought the unit was original to the house. That's 40 years people!

So several bids and 3 days later we have an attic full of new equipment and a very warm and cozy home. We are glad to have this project behind us and are glad that it didn't catch us completely off guard. We saw it coming, but were just hoping to get one more year out of it.

The house was around 55 degrees until the unit was installed, so we had Logan sleep in his pack and play in our room for a few nights with space heaters. It was fun!

The Perfect Date

Logan and I took a quick trip to the zoo Monday afternoon to say hello to the gorillas. It was a little chilly and there were very few people there. It was perfect!

Logan is a joy to take to fun places. He is so full of energy and curiosity. And he is getting to be a good listener so I can let him run free a little bit and trust that he'll stay close.

Baby Aaron countdown

Here I am at 36 weeks.

I went to the Dr. today and learned that with 3 1/2 weeks to my due date I am already 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. While she says she doesn't expect me to have him in the next week, she does think I will be at least a week early. YIPES!

The good thing is that I do feel like I've got enough done around here to bring a new baby home - clothes, blankets, swing, car seat, etc is all washed and ready to go. We have the bassinet set up in our room and we have diapers. I have yet to decide on fabric for my mom to make the curtain and bedding and there is nothing hanging on Aaron's walls yet, but we'll get there.

We are so excited to meet our sweet baby boy!

Happy 2011!

I can't believe we're 2 weeks into 2011 already! Andrew brought in the new year with his buddies in Pasadena cheering the Frogs to their Rose Bowl victory. GO FROGS! I was sad to miss the big game, but we decided I was just a little too pregnant to tag along. Logan woke up from his nap just after kick off and we enjoyed watching the first half together. He really sat still and watched most of it - I was shocked. At half-time we walked across the street to cheer them on with our neighbors. Most of our neighbors are empty nesters now, so they were happy to entertain my toddler for a while.

Ms. Roberta had festive cupcakes and Logan's diaper the next morning was festive as well. I opened it and all I could think was, "go frogs!?"
